Roo McCrudden
Roo McCrudden is an up and coming photographer from Portrush, Co. Antrim on the North coast of Ireland. He began taking shots around his hometown of Portrush, and this shows through his style which has been influenced heavily by the ocean & rugged Irish coastline. When not shooting from the shore or amongst it in the lineup Roo likes to take every opportunity he can to get out for a surf.
He began to study photography in his own time, and soon became enthralled in the world of surf photography after discovering the works of surf photographers such as Jeff Divine & Art Brewer, whose work was prominent through the late 60’s & 70’s. He especially likes their portraiture which captures the counterculture & flamboyance of the time.
At only 21 Roo has had his work published in Irish surf mag Tonnta, used by surf company’s for advertising campaigns, used on numerous websites and has his first full exhibition under his belt. He sees this as just the beginning and wants to pursue a career in photography as far as possible, with the thought of capturing new, bigger, heavier waves driving him forward.
